At the heart of the exhibition Olho da Rua [Out Loud] is Jonathas de Andrade's film of the same name from 2022, in which Augusto Boal's Theater of the Oppressed meets the streets of Recife, with public space appearing as a place of community and agitation. For his film, the artist portrayed a temporary community of homeless people living in the city center of Recife.
Oscar Tuazon's work Burn the Formwork, which was created in 2017 as part of Skulptur Projekte, also gains significance as a place of community and refuge through the motif of the integrated fireplace. The warming sculpture, which would hardly be conceivable as official architecture in a regulated urban space, has a social dimension. It implies a form of participation that largely eludes control.
In the guided tour, Luca Scholz invites you to watch the film together and then provides insights into Andrade's artistic positions. Following the viewing of the exhibition Olho da Rua [Out Loud], the tour will continue with a bicycle tour to Oscar Tuazon's Burn the Formwork.
Please bring your own bicycle.
