FÜRTH UM 1910

In the organizer's words:

The magic of photography
With a single click, fleeting moments are captured for eternity. Photography captures the world and people's lives in all their facets. Even the everyday becomes extraordinary.

Johann Georg Heinrich Lotter (1871-1950) also had the talent to capture such moments. He was a great photographer who left behind an authentic and fascinating image of his home town of Fürth. The exhibition shows a small selection from his extensive collection of historical glass plate photographs, which are kept in the Fürth town archive. These images bring Fürth as it was at the beginning of the 20th century back to life.
The focus of the exhibition is not on the structural changes in the cityscape, but places the people at the center who Lotter encountered on his many forays through the cloverleaf city: for example, street vendors, salesmen, city policemen, military personnel, market people, craftsmen, adults, young people, street children and schoolchildren. He also captured various leisure activities of the time with his camera. Lotter's photographs appear natural, often like random snapshots that skillfully capture the moods of the people. He depicts the diverse urban society and does not exclude any social classes.

Admission is 3 euros, concessions 2 euros per person.
