The Library and Café Edition
An exhibition by Shortnotice Studio (Mathias Lempart and Sascia Reibel)
14:00 Opening with exhibition tour and talk in the Hansa Library
From July 20, 2025, the works of the design duo Shortnotice Studio (Mathias Lempart and Sascia Reibel) will be presented in the Hansabibliothek under the title "Future Mobility And Other Ghosts From The Past (FMAOGFTP). The Library and Café Edition". This interactive edition is not a classic exhibition, but an invitation to encounter the artworks in the everyday life of the library and café. Between bookshelves and tables, the art objects enter into a dialog with the location and the users. Whether carrying a book, placing an order or looking out of a reading chair - the works are actively used and not just looked at.
The edition follows a conceptual route: After the first stop in 2024 at the Pforzheim Galerie and "The Ship Edition" on the MS Dauerwelle in Bremen, the works are now "washed up" in Berlin and integrated into social, spatial and functional systems.
Shortnotice Studio combines experimental graphic design with social participation and critical design. Their works thematize movement and standstill, utopian promises and the magic of being on the move, citing objects of a mobile society.
"The Library and Café Edition" encourages use, changes in context and remains open to experimentation and interaction. There is no fixed end - the works disappear or remain depending on how they are used.
The exhibition will be on display in the Hansa Library and Café Tiergarten until August 31.
A project within the framework of OFFEN FÜR KULTUR in cooperation with GROTTO.
