As the voice of Ukrainian resistance, GANNA's artistry is as beautiful as it is heart-wrenching.
A powerful mixture of newly interpreted Ukrainian folk songs and modern jazz.
This is what Home sounds like - the new album by the band GANNA around singer and bandleader Ganna Gryniva. Born in Ukraine, she came to Germany with her parents in 2002 at the age of 13. With her distinctive, expressive voice, she takes us on a very personal and politically tinged journey. "I traveled to Ukraine to visit regional archives and to collect old, traditional songs," explains Gryniva and adds: "The journey took me through beautiful mountain landscapes in the Carpathians, to old churches, to small, atmospheric music festivals and to special people."

As the voice of Ukrainian resistance, her artistic work is as beautiful as it is heart-wrenching. Or - as Matthias Wegner put it on Deutschlandfunk Kultur: "strong voice, strong song" - which will certainly leave its mark on the European jazz landscape.
