DADGAD

Three-minute songs are kindly but firmly invited into the rehearsal room, only to be beaten up by every trick in the book. Back on the street, they are surprised to be mistaken for 60s garage noise, 70s punk or 80s hardcore. No wonder! The power trio beat the hell out of their instruments - bad-tempered, nasty and with a nasty dose of dirt. The drums are whipped into the ground, the bass is made to growl, the guitar is dropped screeching in disgrace while the vocals howl at the spotlights - or was that the other way around?

GAUSS:

The fact that two Costa Ricans and a Chilean with a penchant for mind-expanding psychedelic jams and relentless doom riffs found each other in Munich is probably the result of a cosmic synchronicity. The power trio is not afraid to play loud, complex rhythms, create experimental soundscapes and insist on never repeating themselves. Gauss' first album, Oumuamua, is named after the cosmic invader that crossed our solar system and never returned. It promises to take the listener on an introspective journey ranging from the quiet embryonic development of the microcosm to the violence of colliding galaxies and the distant glowing quasars of the macrocosm.
