About the event

UMSONST & DRINNEN: GEBERÜDER MANNS

This band has tradition! Back in the 90s, the band - back then under the name Cup C - was a beacon in the testosterone-dominated metal world. Now - 20 years later - they are back! Louder and more energetic than ever before.

Reunited in their old formation in 2016, the three original band members Marie Nielsen (vocals), Karin Schroeder (bass) and founding member Annika Manns (guitar) have been working together with Berlin drummer Sabine Ahlbrecht ("Nervous Germans", "Scheisskind") since 2018.

Their sound is a journey back in time to the late 90s, when nu metal, crossover and rap still defined the sound in the clubs. A concert by the band is just the thing for all those who don't understand that you can't jump around like Zack de la Rocha after 50. RATM's fury, Korn's plank and Limp Bizkit's aggressively poppy groove catapult the audience back to a time long past, but whose attitude to life has not disappeared and which you simply want to enjoy again.

PURE ENERGY - IN YOUR FACE! The current set contains reworked material from the Göttingen period in the 90s and new material that the band has developed together with producer Tobias Langer (dluxe media) on the basis of GM's ideas. The four now return to the stage with songs that jump right into your face. The lyrics are about life on a small and large scale: Beauty mania and the cult of youth, body optimization and the virtual self, the resurgence of extremism and inhumanity, brutality and naivety, love, sex and death. The lyrics revolve around these themes, sometimes in harsh German, sometimes in even harsher Danish, Marie's second mother tongue, but mostly in English.
