Gedenken an die "Operation Gomorrha"

Remembering "Operation Gomorrah" using the example of the Remé family.

History is not just facts and figures. History is experienced, written down and passed on. It is personal, a contemporary document and, unfortunately, frighteningly topical.

For example, the letters about the medical missions on the Eastern Front and the diary description of the devastation after the Hamburg firestorm by Helmut and Elisabeth Remé from the war years 1943-45 arehistory, as are the memories of Wilhelm Remé, pastor at the Eilbek church and chairman of the confessing church, as well as excerpts from the memoirs of the Hamburg merchant Reinhard Remé.

These texts, which are also a piece of family history, were compiled by the Hamburg actress Mignon Remé.
