Memorial concert

Description

Every year on January 27, the victims of National Socialism are commemorated. At a special concert in the Kunstquartier to mark the occasion, the song cycle Letters to Fred. A Portrait of the Herzberg Family during the Holocaust will be performed. In this composition for soprano and piano, premiered in 2024, the Israeli composer Bracha Bdil sets letters written to the young Fred Herzberg between 1939 and 1945 to music. Born in Detmold, he was saved by the Kindertransport at the age of 17, while his family, who had remained in Germany, was deported to Auschwitz and Theresienstadt.
