Once again this year, we would like to celebrate the daily ritual of the holy month of Ramadan together with guests from politics, religious communities and urban society.
Especially in a time of global conflicts, crises and disasters, it is important that we find the time to come together, share and talk to each other. We are delighted that our annual breaking of the fast offers the opportunity to do this and brings people from many different areas together, to experience religion and culture together and to grow trust and respect. The month of Ramadan in particular stands for charity. But even beyond this special month, many people, organizations and religious communities in our city regularly demonstrate that helping and acting in difficult times is a matter of course. Breaking the fast together should also serve to appreciate and deepen this cohesion in our society.

Our Lord Mayor Thomas Westphal will give a welcoming address, as will Ahmad Aweimer (spokesman for the Council of Muslim Communities) and Leonid Chraga (Chairman of the Integration Council). Before breaking the fast, there will be an interfaith dialog, a prayer and an intercession. There will also be musical performances. Deniz Greschner will moderate the event.
