This time with Regina Mühlhäuser (activist and researcher):

"Un/Visible - How can we better understand sexual and sexualized violence in armed conflicts?"

Sexual and sexualized violence becomes a topic of public debate above all when it is a matter of defaming an opponent. For example, the rapes committed by Red Army soldiers at the end of the Second World War became a frequently scandalized topic in West Germany and the USA from the 1950s onwards. Different constellations of actors (e.g. sexual violence by German or Western Allied soldiers) were ignored, as was the question of how those affected experienced this form of violence under patriarchal conditions. In this event, I would like to discuss how we can understand these "communicative rules of the game": What are the presuppositions? What becomes invisible? And why does our current understanding of sexual violence as a weapon of war also harbor dangers?

Regina Mühlhäuser deals with this topic as an activist and researcher. She is a research associate at the Hamburg Foundation for the Promotion of Science and Culture and co-founder of the International Research Group "Sexual Violence in Armed Conflict"(www.warandgender.net).
