Gender Salon mit Ruby Tuesday: "Ist das Gender oder kann das weg?“

Gender Salon - A series of events centered around creative, subversive and productive explorations of gender at the intersection of art, (pop) culture, politics and science. - Get on board, get off course, take detours!

"Is this gender or can it go away?"

Drag kings, burlesque strippers, male-dominated scenes, female-dominated scenes, internalized role models, traditions, power imbalances, "not fitting in", finding the right words for something, and simply being fed up with all the gender norms - that's what Ruby Tuesday's lecture will be about. Using historical retrospectives and many anecdotes from her insights into different milieus, Ruby wants to get into conversation with the audience and explore the question of whether we still need the topic of gender at all.

Verena actually has a degree in design, but discovered the stage for herself while working for years on her photo book "Burlesque Republic" about the German burlesque scene. She has now been performing throughout Europe for over ten years under the name "Ruby Tuesday" as a burlesque, drag and fire performer. Because she doesn't fit into any of the classic categories, she started putting on her own shows in 2015. In 2024, she co-curated the first Munich "go drag!" festival with a focus on female, trans* and non-binary drag artists. From May 9 - 11, 2025, the revival of her drag show with educational mission "Frau kann Mann" can be seen at the Pathos Theater.
