Generation Repair. Transnationale Dialoge Namibia – Deutschland

In the organizer's words:

"Generation Repair - Transnational Dialogues Namibia - Germany" was premiered internationally in 2024 as part of the exhibition "BURIED MEMORIES - Dealing with Memory. The Genocide against the Ovaherero and Nama" at the Museum Neukölln. "Generation Repair" follows a decolonial aesthetic that gives voice to the context of these protests and refers to the omnipresence of shared heritage and colonial trauma. Contributions from Windhoek, Otjinene, Swakopmund and Berlin echo the struggles of people of African descent in Germany.

"Generation Repair" will be screened in the presence of the filmmakers Adetoun Küppers-Adebisi and Michael Küppers-Adebisi. The screening will be followed by a moderated discussion with representatives of Black German Arts and Culture e.V.

The film (approx. 137 min., English, Herero, Nama, with German subtitles) was made possible by funding from LEZ Berlin and the Neukölln Youth Welfare Office. In the first year of the 2nd UN Decade for People of African Descent (2025-2034), the film will be shown as part of Black History Month 2025. The film is a follow-up project to TheBlackBook 2.0. The book will be available on site.

Admission: 19.00 hrs
Start: 7.30 pm

Accessibility note: The subsequent discussion will be held in German spoken language, only partially accessible
