327 BC: King Poro is entangled in a web of love, jealousy and power struggles in India. George Frideric Handel's opera "Poro" (1731) is not short on drama and expressive music. Soprano Julia Lezhneva shines at the center of the Dortmund performance with her bright, soulful voice. Lezhneva, a star on major international stages in Hamburg, Paris and at the Salzburg Festival, lends her role an incomparable intensity and radiance. At her side is Max Emanuel Cenčić, a countertenor who has celebrated worldwide success with his interpretations of Handel roles - including in Milan, Paris and Vienna as well as at Bayreuth Baroque. Together with the renowned {oh!} Orkiestra under the direction of Martyna Pastuszka, they let the music shine in all its glory.
