At the beginning of 2024, hundreds of thousands demonstrated against plans by the far right to deport millions of people. At the same time, racist actors are receiving increasing support at the ballot box. The ideas of völkisch nationalism and the associated notions of damage to society through migration are by no means new. The lecture will highlight central reference categories of extreme right-wing ideology in their historical and current forms. Prof. Dr. Fabian Virchow is a social scientist and has headed the research focus on right-wing extremism/neo-Nazism (FORENA) at Düsseldorf University of Applied Sciences since 2010.
