Geschichtsfestival Düsseldorf 2025: WAS WAR? WAS IST? WAS BLEIBT?!

In the organizer's words:

An open-air event for history and culture, a festival for politics and art, designed by young people and for young people: This is what awaits you on May 9 and 10 on the meadow next to the Reuterkaserne, directly on the Rhine and in the middle of Düsseldorf!

Be there when we connect the past, present and future at the history festival! Under the title "What was? What is? What remains?" we invite you to explore and reflect together on the history of National Socialism, the end of the war and the liberation 80 years ago. What remains of the past? How does it shape our present? And what does it mean for our future?

During the day, you can look forward to workshops, talks and open hands-on activities - together we will remember, learn from history, contribute our own ideas or get creative.
In the evening, you can look forward to a musical reading "Nach dem Rosa Winkel" (Fr. 18:00) and live music by MarXa (Fr. 20:00) and a poetry slam (Sat. 16:00) - in good company we will find artistic approaches to history.

Why should you be there?

• Remembering and understanding:How did the end of the war 80 years ago shape the world today? Why is it important that we remember?
• Discuss and reflect:What does war do to us personally? What traces do we want to leave behind ourselves?
• Shaping the future: How do we want to use insights from history to shape our future?
