In a melancholy comedy, Peter Wekwerth describes the last weeks of Giacomo Casanova's turbulent, enjoyable life at Dux Castle. A late love affair of the world-famous seducer, whose birthday this year marks the three hundredth anniversary, also plays a not insignificant role.

Casanova spent the last twelve years of his life at Dux Castle in Bohemia - just an hour away from the Saxon capital - where he wrote his world-famous memoirs. Wilhelm v. Schütz later translated most of the more than three thousand handwritten pages for Brockhaus Verlag Leipzig in Dresden on the recommendation of Ludwig Tieck.

Giacomo himself was a frequent guest in the Elbe metropolis, as a large part of his prominent family - including his mother, a well-known actress - lived and worked here.

The well-known television director Peter Wekwerth studied at the Babelsberg Film Academy, shot many television films and more than two hundred episodes for a wide variety of series, including around ninety for the popular ARD series "In aller Freundschaft". He has also directed several successful productions for the theater. As an author, he has written several scripts for television and plays, including "Akt mit Lilie", which he also directed in Dresden with Ursula Karusseit and Wolfgang Winkler.
