World-renowned percussionist Giridhar Udupa, synonymous with the ghatam and representative of Carnatic music, released his first album My Name is Giridhar Udupa with Sam Shackleton in 2024, fusing traditional Indian percussion with electronic elements and breaking new ground in the genre.
Over the last ten years, Shackleton has evolved from the depths of the dubstep underground of the early 2000s to become a sought-after artist with international collaborations. After refining hypnotic beats on cult UK label Skull Disco, his touch can now be heard on some of Europe's most progressive. My Name is Giridhar Udupa is an album to immerse yourself in, a work to wrestle with and find peace with, from two masters of different musical directions.
