Global Bodies: LEIB – What does a body desire?

In the organizer's words:

Shrouded in darkness at the beginning, LEIB - What does a body desire? unfolds an acoustic experience of crackling and soft sounds that fill the room. Gradually, a fireplace appears in the light and the stage becomes a place of sensual, poetic evocation. With voice, music, objects and movement, it is not a spirit that is conjured up, but the body itself - as the first space of feeling and encounter.

Cuatro X Cuatro is known for its innovative works that are deeply rooted in social contexts. This first part of their trilogy is about opening up a new unfolding for the body. The body is perceived as a collective voice that speaks to nature, dreams, the night and the sun. Dance becomes a space in which another world is possible - or at least a way of experiencing and understanding this world. LEIB is a sign for all those who have disappeared to find their way home again.

With Global Bodies, fabrik Potsdam is opening its doors to the diversity and expressive power of international contemporary dance. The guest performance series sets thematic and geographical priorities in order to make different cultural perspectives on the body, movement and identity visible.Global Bodies shows how dance as a universal language builds bridges, expands horizons and negotiates questions of our time. The invited companies and artists not only bring their works, but also their stories, contexts and philosophies of movement and enter into a lively exchange with the audience.
