The natural limits of our planet have noticeably been reached: resources are becoming scarcer, climate change urgently demands our action. But who bears the responsibility for change - individuals or society as a whole? What role do politics and science play in this? And how can the Global South inspire us with its approaches to dealing with AI and digitality? In this discussion, journalist Ulrike Herrmann, AI anthropologist Prof. Dr. Payal Arora and plant researcher Prof. Dr. Markus Stetter address key questions about the future: Herrmann questions the capitalist growth paradigm and shows why unlimited growth and climate protection are mutually exclusive. Arora, co-founder of FemLab.co and researcher for AI uses, examines innovative digital practices of young people in the Global South and criticizes the Western pessimism towards AI and digital transformations, which often results from a privileged perspective. Stetter researches crops such as amaranth and maize with a focus on their future potential.
