Festive Christmas music from the Baroque era: Winter in Schwetzingen offers the ornate Missa Nativitatis Domini in D major by the Dresden Baroque master Jan Dismas Zelenka. He was a busy Bohemian composer and contemporary of Johann Sebastian Bach and George Frideric Handel. The main focus of his work was church music. He penned 20 masses, oratorios, cantatas, hymns, psalms and other sacred works.

Johann Sebastian Bach's Christmas cantata "Gloria in excelsis Deo" was written for Christmas Day. It is one of the few Latin works that Bach wrote.
