Glück auf! Arbeit und Leben im Aachener Revier

In the late 1980s and early 1990s, Alsdorf photographer Dieter Kaspari took the opportunity to document the industrial heritage of the Euregio, and in particular the evidence of coal mining in the Aachen coalfield. As part of a commission for the Eschweiler Bergwerksverein (EBV), for example, he took numerous black and white pictures of the huge above-ground installations of the Anna mine, as well as of everyday life in the surrounding mining settlements. The vhs Aachen is organizing an accompanying programme for the exhibition of 64 Kaspari pictures from the Euregio and, with the kind support of STAWAG, is also publishing its own exhibition catalog.

At the opening, there will be an introduction to the exhibition theme and music by Dieter Kaspari and Franz Brandt, as well as an opportunity to talk about the region's mining past at a get-together afterwards.
