Goethe, Aachen und die Zauberflöte

Immerse yourself with Prof. Dr. Schanze in a fascinating combination of theater history, literature and music! The event "Goethe, Aachen and the Magic Flute" will take you on an exciting journey to Goethe's director's notes and his preoccupation with Mozart's masterpiece.

Experience a multifaceted presentation of Goethe's ideas for a "Second Part" of the Magic Flute - with theatrical elements such as lightning and thunder, the gate of terror, the circle of stars, the "Klokkenspiel" and boxes, as well as the moving story of the many children of the bird people and the rescue of the child of the "High Couple" in 1797/1802.

In addition, Prof. Dr. Helmut Schanze sheds light on the year 1825, when a real fire raged in the house of the Weimar superintendent - an event in which Goethe's "Schreckenspforte" and the circle of stars were presumably lost for good. But not everything was destroyed: the "decent façade" of the house in the Rhine Province, which has been preserved to this day, points to a new beginning.
