There wasn't exactly a place for an artist like GoldLink in the scene - until GoldLink found one. Growing up in and around Washington, D.C., the rapper (born D'Anthony Carlos in 1993) began writing music in his late teens, breaking new ground at the intersection of hip-hop, house, electronic music and R&B - a colorful, infectious sound that immediately made him stand out from the crowd.

In 2014, he released his debut mixtape "The God Complex"; the following year, he made it into the XXL Freshman Class. Inspired by the support of Def Jam co-founder Rick Rubin, "And After That, We Didn't Talk" followed in 2015, striking a balance between narrative heaviness and a lively, effervescent sound. In 2017, he released "At What Cost" with the Grammy-nominated "Crew".

Alongside MCs and producers such as Anderson Paak, KAYTRANADA, Flume and Chance the Rapper, GoldLink's sound represents an ever-widening sense of what hip-hop and dance music can achieve. He envisions a boundless club world where genre and regional affiliations bend to the overall feel of the music: no rap, no electronic, but what GoldLink has jokingly dubbed "Future Bounce" - and that's what he's doing right now.
