Indy is a good dog. Loyal, watchful, closely bonded with his master. But when Todd changes and moves into his deceased grandfather's remote house with him, Indy senses that something is wrong. Something dangerous is nesting in the new home and seems to be targeting Todd. Indy will defend his best friend by any means necessary; because whatever is lurking in this house: it's getting closer!
GOOD BOY is a horror story consistently told from the perspective of a dog: emotional, disturbing and radically different. Somewhere between HACHIKO and WHITE DOG, director Ben Leonberg finds his very own way of transforming animal instincts into suspense, irritation and menace. He spent three years working on the film together with his four-legged protagonist. The decision to cast his own dog was exactly the right one. With his expressive facial expressions and body language, Indy can rival any human acting performance. Then there's the sophisticated camera at dog shoulder height, the atmospheric lighting of the locations that plays with strong contrasts of light and the dramatic use of sounds and music. A perfectionist was clearly at work here - GOOD BOY is a very special experience even in the smallest details. For anyone who wants to experience horror in a new way, on four paws, with no way out.
