"Griotoubab" combines the Senegalese musical tradition of the Griot and western jazz. Cologne-based jazz pianist Mike Herting and the Griot family Seck created this crossover project in 2021, which combines Senegalese rhythms with jazz, disco and kraut jazz. The recordings with 11 guest musicians combine griot rhythms, chants, jazz solos and improvisations.

Griotoubab create a unique musical bridge over the border between Germany and Senegal. With their joy of playing, they delight jazz and Afro music fans alike.

Mike Herting is a jazz pianist and producer with international projects. Pape Samory Seck, Senegalese percussionist, teaches at music academies in Germany and released the album "Baobab" in 2022.
