morphosis
the, -, -n: a non-hereditary variation in the shape of an organism or individual organs caused by environmental influences
Morphoses are individual and are the direct result of specific influences. They do not follow a superordinate plan, are not completed at some point, but end with the death of the organism exposed to the influences. Constant movement, sometimes gentle and almost imperceptible, sometimes full of unbearable tension or threatened by disruption. A dance.
The house had been standing next to the church for 172 years when the extension to the parish hall was inaugurated under swastika flags in 1933. A lot had already happened in the house, a lot has happened in the house since then. The whispering of the pupils from over 100 years of school, the silent bubbling of the fish in the pet shop, the machine noises from the workshops, the bawling from the police station's drunk tank, loud Dixie sounds from the attic... The influences have changed the hall since then, made its soul vibrate.
In "Morphose", housekeepers take care of his needs, his worries and his wishes. They mediate between the house and the people. Through them, the audience learns about other rooms in the building and experiences, challenging and painful, enriching and joyful. They tell of the morphosis of the hall and at the same time report on the human environment. Because the house has questions. What is this "being human"? And does being human have different meanings at different times? Is being human a morphosis? And how do people and space move with and against each other in the field of tension between their morphoses? Let us be moved.
