Inspired by Tocotronic's lines 'Pure reason must never prevail' (2005) and current social issues, the artists of the Atelierzentrum Ehrenfeld (AZE) are presenting their tenth retrospective as GRUPPE 69. For the first time, the joint theme is 'Song of the People - New Words for Democracy'. The exhibition, curated by Iren Tonoian (EMPIRE ZERO ONE), shows the diverse artistic perspectives of GRUPPE 69 on the topic of democracy at the Atelierzentrum.

This tenth exhibition of works by Gruppe 69 is the first to be dedicated to a common overarching theme. The exhibition is organized by the Cologne art association artrmx e.V.

A special element of this exhibition is a political discussion, which will take place for the first time on the evening of the vernissage, May 2, 2025, at 8 p.m. in the AZE and marks the beginning of a new series. In view of the upcoming local elections in Cologne in September 2025, the discussion series NEUE WORTE - PODIUM FÜR NEUE POLITIK (NEW WORDS - PODIUM FOR NEW POLITICS ) repeatedly brings together the mayoral candidates with people from the arts and society at different locations.
