Summer 1982 in London. The city was rocking. A new music style developed from punk and rockabilly: PSYCHOBILLY. More than just a style of music, a lifestyle.
Many young urban rockabillies shaved their hair off at the sides, donned Doc Martens and Domestos jeans and listened to music by the Stingrays, the Sharks, Restless or the Ricochets. At this time, a young singer named Pip Hancox meets a brilliant guitarist by the name of Stuart Osborne. Together they founded one of the first psychobilly bands: the GUANA BATZ. This quartet was to become the most successful band of the genre. They quickly made a name for themselves in the scene and quickly became famous. Their first longplayer "Held down at last" is known to everyone who has anything to do with this music. Their single "I'm on fire" (Bruce Springsteen) is the best-selling single of the psychobilly scene and climbed into the top ten of the European independent charts. In the early 90s, things became a little quieter around the band because Pip Hancox moved to the USA. There were rumors of a break-up, but in 1995 they came back to play at the Wildcat Weekend in Berlin. Since then, they have returned to German stages at irregular intervals. Mostly at festivals, but there has also been a small tour from time to time. In March 2018, the boys released a new record for the first time in 20 years. "Back to the Jungle" was released on Tombstone Records. A few tracks from this new record will be played live. You can be curious. Of course, the old hits including "King Rat" will also be played. Don't miss it.
