Guru Guru

In the organizer's words:

Mani Neumeier and his band Guru Guru have been active since 1968 and still have no less fun crossing boundaries today. Today, Mani is less likely to shake up social conventions than he is to defy biological laws. At the tender age of 82, he drums his way through a 90-minute program of psychedelic rock, world music and jazz elements as virtuosically as ever, plays a percussion solo on his knees with various brass bowls and hops across the stage dressed as an electric luch. Musically, Guru Guru have always been avant-garde, and their concerts have always been as experimental and unpredictable as their albums. After the album "Rotate!" was released in 2018 to mark the band's 50th anniversary, the pandemic struck and brought the ongoing 2020 tour to an abrupt end, leading to the departure of guitarist Jan Lindqvist. And prompted the Gurus to reinvent themselves once again. Former Birth Control keyboardist Zeus B. Held replaced a guitar with a keyboard and synthesizer, adding new dimensions to the typical Guru Guru sound. Since the resumption of concerts, the shows have developed into veritable surprise eggs, carried by the virtuosity of Mani Neumeier on drums, Peter Kühmstedt's precision on bass, the imagination of Zeus on keyboards and the joy of playing of multi-instrumentalist Roland Schaeffer on guitar, saxophone and the Indian nadaswaram. In some pieces even on both wind instruments at the same time! A show with the new line-up was recorded in Switzerland in 2021 and is available directly from the band under the title "Made in Switzerland". The first edition of the "official bootleg" is already sold out!
