Gutbier & Vogeler

Rough and cloudy. That's how northern Germany is known. This mood has shaped them and their sound; the guitar-pop duo Gutbier & Vogeler from Hamburg.

As songwriters, Lisa Gutbier and Arne Vogeler like to immerse themselves in moods, pick up on nuanced observations of their surroundings as well as their inner selves and intuitively put them together in their music. You can undoubtedly hear their affinity immediately, which only intensifies when they are complemented by their band. Especially live, this becomes their superpower.

If you imagine pop as a smooth structure, they roughen it up, grind edges where there were none and turn it into something catchy. The sound, vintage without being musty and characterized by guitars, makes the German lyrics sound so wonderfully un-German. The stories they tell are often melancholy and dark, but also have a clear attitude, which is evident in songs like Nachts im September or Nicht allein hier. Paired with her two voices, which fit together perfectly, the result is a solid mixture that is reminiscent of
artists such as Springsteen or Fleetwood Mac. Her producer Stephan Gade (Niels Frevert, Cäthe, among others) also has an influence on this.

After releasing their debut album Vom Fallen und Fliegen independent at the end of 2019, several singles followed, which certainly found their place in the playlists. On 29.9.23 they celebrated the release of their second album BLUT Release at Häkken in Hamburg.
