Gute Gesellschaft - Abschlussausstellung des Jahrgang Neunzehn der Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie

In the organizer's words:

From July 18 to 27, a major event for the Berlin cultural scene will take place: together with this year's graduates of the Weißensee School of Art, the graduates of year nineteen of the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie will transform the Wilhelm Hallen into a center of young artistic positions. Over 60 graduation works from all areas of the visual arts will enter into an open exchange here for a week. A varied supporting program with panel discussions, guided tours, readings and workshops will accompany the exhibition.

The 26 graduation works from year nineteen of the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie move fluidly between documentary and artistic photography. They have their finger on the pulse of the times, intervene in social discourse and their aesthetic, formal and conceptual approaches are aimed at the big questions: How do we actually want to live? Is our life shaped or do we shape it ourselves? The topics are as pressing and diverse as the individual perspectives of the photographers.

In their works, they trace the family past, focus on everyday life in East Germany and portray marginalized traveler communities in Great Britain. They examine forms of love in times of turmoil, question the construct of the gender binary and document the lives of young people in Berlin and Ukraine. They immerse us in the culture of American summer camps, lead us through the cloud forests of South America and Asia, take us into the undergrowth of secret cruising spots and into the surreal landscapes around the BER airport. Fashion photography is reimagined in fairy tales, science fiction or modern gangster stories, and documentary projects take us into Swiss bunkers, the living rooms of German civil servants and the dazzling world of drag queens.

Exhibiting are: Florentina Amon, Maria Bolz, Shadi Dupouey, Katja Feldmeier, Levin Gilb, Greta Graf, Chiara Herrmann, Michel Kekulé, Leo Köhler, Jan Kraus, Björn Kuhligk, Robert Kwaß, Celina Löschau, Anna-Maria Lück, Alexander Meyer, Charlotte Marquordt- Schulze, Hazel Morley, Cem Öztök, Damian Pfattner, Martha Roschmann, Frederik Rüegger, Ludwig Spaude, Lukas Städler, Ray Van, Nino V. Valpiani, Gerd Waliszewski

On the way from the idea to the completion of the works, the graduates were supported and accompanied by the renowned photographers and lecturers of the Ostkreuzschule für Fotografie Sibylle Fendt, Peter Bialobrzeski and Ina Schoenenburg.
