Gute Nacht, Harry!

In the organizer's words:

"The words sound like music"

"Good night, Harry!", the Heine Institute's successful format, is entering the next round with its tried-and-tested mixture of jazz and staged readings. This time, the focus is on Robert Schumann, a second extraordinary artistic personality alongside Heinrich Heine. Schumann's birthday is also being celebrated on June 8th, so it's also "Happy birthday, Robert!".

The only personal meeting between the two took place in Munich in 1828. Heine was already the well-known poet of the "Reisebilder", but the 18-year-old Schumann did not yet know which path he would take in life. 16 years later, Schumann created an inimitable combination of poetry and music with his song cycle "Dichterliebe" to Heine's poems.

The actors Jasmin-Nevin Varul and Victor Maria Diderich present entertaining texts from the pens of Heine and Schumann. The six-piece jazz ensemble of the Robert Schumann Hochschule Düsseldorf under the direction of Paul von Chamier accompanies the recitation with lively, sometimes melancholy jazz sounds.

In cooperation with the Heinrich Heine Institute and the Heinrich Heine Society.
