Today, money often seems to be the opposite of good. It flows to places where there is already an abundance of it: into complex financial products or expensive real estate. At the same time, there is a lack of money where it is urgently needed: in kindergartens, climate-friendly production facilities, care homes or research centers. In her book Gutes Geld (Good Money), Philippa Sigl-Glöckner, financial expert and founder of the think tank Dezernat Zukunft, poses uncomfortable questions to our political system - and provides concrete ideas for a fairer economic policy. In an interview with Michael Hüther, Director of the German Economic Institute, she discusses what goes wrong when the debt brake and market logic become more important than climate protection, education or social cohesion.
