HA!
by and with Mariam Megvinyte
STAGED READING & ARTIST TALK
from the Georgian by Wachtang Tscheischwili
In fall 2025, Mariam Megvinyte, author and director from Tbilisi, will come to Munich for several months as part of a writing residency. We are already presenting her at the WELT/BÜHNE Festival with a reading of her play "Ha!". This was created as a "play within a play" for a Hamlet performance at the Haraki Theater in Tbilisi, but now has an independent literary existence. In it, Mariam Megvinyte extends the question of guilt from Shakespeare's drama to the wars of our present day.
In-house director Elsa-Sophie Jach is responsible for the staged reading, followed by Christoph Leibold, editor at Bayerischer Rundfunk and long-time expert on the Georgian theater scene, in conversation with the author and art historian Vakhtang Cheishvili, who translated the text into German.
