This evening is all about sign language in museums. Martina Odorfer and Helen Wollstein-Gouba from the GMU will be our guests and talk to us.
They will give us an insight into the work of Museum Signer, who offer guided tours in DGS in Munich museums. We also take a look at the padkig project, an information and education platform for the sign language community on art and culture. The Lenbachhaus is a cooperation partner of both projects.
We take a look at the current situation and ask ourselves how DGS plays a role in the museum. Why is it so important to offer special formats for deaf visitors on a peer-to-peer basis? How can visual people be more involved as experts in the visual arts and how can minorities such as the sign language community become more visible in the cultural sector? How can museums better involve different communities for more inclusion?
