Three outstanding artists sing old and new songs together. Poetic reflection and political commitment permeate each other, the traditional and the highly topical become one. The evening is shaped by people from completely different backgrounds. In addition to solo performances of Hêja Netirk's "contemporary, experimental Kurdish music", Mais Harb's Druze music and Julian Prégardien's Schubert songs, the three singers will also meet on stage. There they will introduce their favorite pieces to each other, share vocal parts and take on melodies and entire song parts from Germany, Kurdistan, Syria, Iran and Austria in an inspiring collaboration - the very special moments of the evening.
"Liedstadt" is a non-profit cultural start-up initiated by Julian Prégardien, Cate Pisaroni and Kian Jazdi. Hamburg was chosen as the home city of the "Liedstadt" festival. Liedstadt appears in other German-speaking cities with pop-ups. The aim is to make songs heard in the truest sense of the word, to revive and combine them in innovative ways.
