Over the past two decades, awareness of the positive effects of art on health and well-being has grown significantly. According to the World Health Organization, creative practices - whether active or receptive - can strengthen resilience, support healing processes, and enhance quality of life on multiple levels.
With Healing Arts, the Arts & Medicine Network at Charité Berlin continues its successful interdisciplinary lecture series in cooperation with the Berlin University of the Arts (UdK). Starting in May 2025, the new edition opens up space for an expanded dialog on healing as a cultural practice.
In five curated sessions, moderated by Lukas Feireiss, the series brings together perspectives from neuroscience, ethnomedicine, gender studies, performance, and societal health issues. Together, they explore the questions: How can artistic and scientific approaches open new paths for transformation? What emerges when care becomes a method and the body becomes a site of knowledge?
Healing Arts is aimed at students, researchers, and the interested public. The series offers a space for collective reflection on the future of health, healing, and cultural practice. The language of the events is English.
