His "gruesome songs" meant more to Franz Schubert than any other. The fact that the experience of transcendental homelessness becomes a theme in his "Winterreise", that the cycle is about someone who has become homeless, seems to invite us to identify with it today. The song duo from Russia and Bulgaria, who were awarded two of the most important Schubert prizes, also saw "Winterreise" as an artistic home of choice from an early age. Timoshenko and Desseva are good acquaintances in Heidelberg. Having thrilled audiences on several occasions with sophisticated concept programs, they now present their interpretation of the classic par excellence.
