Heike Simmer moves and everything moves with her: stubborn limbs stretch out on the canvas between tension and relaxation. It doesn't matter who these thighs, feet and bellies belong to, because faces are overrated - the main thing is to be in motion and in the colors of the ice cream parlor counter. Heike likes the sweet colors in strong poses and so she sometimes swings against the white with the spray can, sometimes with big gestures, to turn the background into a figure, while she dips the foreground in lemon or Malaga. So it is no wonder that this dynamic goes beyond the frame and can also be found in ceramics, collaborations of performance, music and photography. Simmer is serious about mixed media and we are very serious about her and have the greatest pleasure in doing so!

Heike Simmer (*1982) lives and works in Cologne, where she studied acting, textile design, art and education. She has worked in theater and opera as a performer, stage painter, costume designer and assistant director. As a freelance artist, she has mainly devoted herself to painting since 2012, as well as curating transdisciplinary projects and exhibition formats, and is also involved in various cultural institutions in Cologne. As SIMMER&METZ, Heike Simmer travels to MONTAGE with musician Elisa Metz. Visitors can get a small impression of the interplay between their worlds of color and sound on May 15.
