Heilbronner Poetry Slam – Champions Special

Maschinenfabrik and Kreissparkasse Heilbronn invite you to a poetry battle of superlatives. The crème de la crème of the poetry slam scene will meet for the ultimate showdown on 25.04.2025 in Heilbronn: at the Champions Special of the Heilbronn Poetry Slam, national and state champions will let the literary shreds fly and in the end the audience will decide on victory or defeat.

At a poetry slam, self-written literature (poetry) is performed on a stage in a competition (slam). The audience is also the jury and decides whether the slam poets win or lose, e.g. by applause. The texts are sometimes lyrical and sometimes humorous, sometimes rhymed and sometimes rapped, sometimes critical and sometimes Dadaist. The audience is a colorful mix - from young people to pensioners, the poetry slams cast a spell over many people. The event form originated in Chicago in 1986 and spread worldwide in the 1990s. The German-speaking slam scene is considered the second largest in the world after the English-speaking one.
