For the psychotherapists working with scientist Dr. Chiba Atsuko (Megumi Hayashibara), the DC Mini is a sensation. The possibilities of the invention, which is still in the testing phase, have revolutionized the therapists' work. They can now record their patients' dreams and view them frame by frame. This enables them to carry out precise analyses and get to the root of the problems. However, the new machine is stolen. Now good advice is expensive, because the technical device can also be used for nefarious manipulations to reprogram the brains of individual people. The security risk must be contained at all costs. Atsuko therefore agrees to immerse herself in the dream world in order to thwart the thieves' plans. As Paprika, she wanders through a world that is as bizarre as it is dangerous, in which her opponents can use dream figures as weapons.
