Broadway producer Max Bialystock has fallen on hard times. His last productions were all flops and Max is practically on the brink of bankruptcy. But his accountant Leo Bloom has a brilliant idea: if the next play also fails, Max could then collect all the investors' money. The play by the eccentric Franz Liebkind, "Springtime for Hitler", seems to be the perfect fit for their plan. Max and Leo agree that a musical revue about Hitler could never be a real success with the public. But they have made a serious miscalculation: The revue "Springtime for Hitler" becomes a huge success. And so Max and Leo now have a new problem on their hands ...
