Heimweh nach Heimat. Theatraler Liederabend im Rahmen der Tage des Exils 2025

The theatrical song recital tells Bettina Wegner's story through gesturally sensual images combined with music. While many GDR opposition activists left for West Germany in the early 1980s, the well-known singer-songwriter Bettina Wegner held on to her homeland against all odds in order to make it a better, freer society. But for her and her family, life as an undesirable person in the state became a crucial test. What does it mean to lose one's homeland and is it possible to find a new home among strangers?

A musical evening by Wanda Perdelwitz about "home, homesickness and exile". Wanda Perdelwitz plays Bettina Wegner. She fights, hopes, cries and laughs with us.

The Days of Exile 2025 (5 February to 7 March 2025) are an audience-oriented programme of events and encounters in Hamburg and other German cities and are organized under the auspices of the Körber Foundation.
