What happens when the roots become visible? A question that performer Hendrik Quast asks himself in relation to head and class. In HAIRKUNFT, he tells the story of a transplant. And a social migration. His own move from a rural working-class environment to the urban art world is intertwined with the experience of gradually losing his hair. When a full mane of hair would help to secure the status that has been painstakingly acquired! Quast has learned this from Simba in "The Lion King". He decides to undergo a hair transplant. And documents it as a long-term performance. A painful and expensive chapter in the his and hair story. Do the roots of the worker's hair even go along with this scalp migration? As a class changer, the artist (SPILL YOUR GUTS, 2022) once again exposes himself to radical self-questioning. With elements of stand-up comedy, musical, body art and crowdwork, the result is a shamelessly honest evening about the price of upward mobility.
