"Quast is never about distance, but about taking things radically seriously, which in turn can give rise to a humor all of its own. That's what makes his work so special." Patrick Wildermann, Tagesspiegel, 17.10.2024
"Quast is never distant, instead he has a radical seriousness, that can generate a humor all his own. That is what makes his work so special." Patrick Wildermann, Tagesspiegel, 17.10.2024
Hendrik Quast knows that full hair is status and class! He stages his hair transplant as a classism stand-up: unconventionally funny, highly precise and sometimes embarrassing, he combines elements from the mane musical "The Lion King" with live singing, body art and crowdworking on his shameless journey to a full head of hair. Peppered with painfully pleasurable moments of embarrassment, "Hairkunft" questions the price of class advancement, redistributes its costs to taxpayers and owes nothing to anyone.
Hendrik Quast knows that a full head of hair means status and class! He stages his hair transplant as classist stand-up: displaying a unique sense of humor, great precision and at times embarrassment, his shameless journey to a full head of hair combines elements of the mane-conscious musical 'The Lion King' with live singing, body art and crowdworking. Sprinkled with joyously painful moments of embarrassment, in 'Hair-itage' he questions the price of upward mobility, redistributes his costs to the taxpayers and ends up owing nobody anything.
