Lecture by Dr. Gülşah Stapel followed by a talk with Anike Joyce Sadiq as part of the exhibition 2 tons of limestone at IDEAL Kunstraum

The lecture deals with the challenges and possibilities of public memory in a diverse society. Based on Gülşah Stapel's "Right to Heritage in the Migration Society", it deals with questions of representation, exclusion and dealing with conflictual memories. A particular focus is on the dispute over the soldiers' memorial in Leipzig - as an example of the political explosiveness of public heritage negotiations and the search for a fairer, more diverse culture of remembrance.
