Herman Dune, the most Californian of all French songwriters, returns with "Odysseús" (June 13, 2025). His anti-folk combines Parisian roots and West Coast flair to create an unmistakable, heroic, raw-romantic sound journey.

Herman Dune, the most Californian of all French songwriters and a defining figure of anti-folk, presents "Odysseús", a musical journey through his turbulent life. The album will be released on June 13, 2025 by Santa Cruz Records. In the fall, he will embark on a heroic solo tour through Europe and the UK. Herman Dune was founded in the late 1990s and is the project of French-Swedish artist David Ivar. Born and raised in Paris, David Ivar drew from folk influences (Bob Dylan, Leonard Cohen), country (Townes Van Zandt, John Prine) and indie folk (Elliot Smith, Lucinda Williams, Silver Jews) and had to create his own scene to express himself - at a time when it was considered absurd to sing in English with an acoustic guitar on Parisian stages. Since 2015, Herman Dune has lived with his wife and colleague Mayon and their three black cats in San Pedro, the harbor district of Los Angeles - a mecca of Californian punk rock (Minute Men, Black Flag). From his Californian bungalow, he runs his own label (Santa Cruz Records), has released six of a total of fifteen albums (Sweet Thursday, Santa Cruz Gold, Notes From Vinegar Hill and the trilogy The Portable Herman Dune Vol. 1 - 3) and composed several film scores, including Mariage à Mendoza and Pétaouchnock (both by Edouard Deluc).
