On August 6, the victims of the atomic bombing of 1945 are commemorated in the Japanese city of Hiroshima and around the world. It is a day of remembrance, a warning and a call for peace and nuclear disarmament. In Hiroshima, a memorial service is held in the Peace Park, during which a peace bell is rung and a minute's silence is observed.
At the central place of remembrance of the victims of the Hamburg firestorm, the St. Nikolai memorial expresses its sympathy and solidarity. In a world of current wars, it also reminds us of the universal importance and necessity of peace with a concert and reading on this special day.
The event will take place in the public square of the memorial. Free admission.
