The world is falling apart: Constant rain, collapsing bridges, power cuts - even the coffee maker explodes at the worst possible moment. And everyone puts up with it.

Everyone? No. A small group of volunteers stand firm - every Tuesday night at "Brightline", the telephone counseling service. Young Joey is thrown in at the deep end without a second thought and quickly realizes that nothing is going as he had imagined. His colleagues? Dedicated, but each brings their own problems and challenges.

In their crumbling cellar, they listen to tragedies, bizarre stories and absurd confessions. They drink cold coffee, eat too many doughnuts, endure obscenities, make friends with the people on the other end of the line - or nag back. But there's one thing they never do: give up. Especially not because of the stupid darkness!

Sam Steiner's entertaining tragicomedy about resilience premiered in Plymouth in 2019. And it has just become a whole lot more topical.
