Can you even dance with shoes like these? Pippi does. In the novel, she dances all the time: Scottish with two burglars, acrobatically on a plank, around Christmas trees and campfires. So why not turn Pippi's stories into a dance piece, thought Stuttgart choreographer Katja Erdmann-Rajski. Together with children aged 7 to 12, who came up with some really great ideas in participatory workshops and open rehearsals.

And the result of this collaboration between children and professional dancers and dance enthusiasts of all ages has also delighted the press. The Stuttgarter Zeitung writes: "as funny as it is poetic ... a tribute to imagination and new perspectives". And the Theaterkompass writes: "A performance full of harmonious polyphony and thematic sophistication. The program was particularly well received by the younger members of the audience. Cheers and thunderous applause."

And perhaps the children are also applauding themselves a little? After all, they are allowed to dance along to the performances! No dance experience is required. Because as Pippi says: "Can't we dance a little? I've just taught myself, you know."
